Ear surgery

This is an issue of great importance and current relevance to the social welfare of people. In a world of hypercommunication in which people are exposed to quick and superficial judgment by society, ear design can help solve a bullying problem. Ears, like other parts of our body, can vary in shape from most people.

In this blog we will focus only on the most common alteration which is nothing more than an "overgrowth of the ears" that results in "bigger" ears. The ear is this structure that is found flanking our face and has a beautiful three-dimensional shape as if we were seeing valleys and riverbeds from the sky. The ear finishes its growth and development between six and seven years of age. When we have a prominent ear, also called a protruding ear, it makes us look different. This change, in which the ear is detached from the face and has a slightly different shape, gets all our attention. Unfortunately there are people who turn this unsolicited attention into a means to cause harm.

In the following example of a handsome 12 year old boy we see in his pre-procedure headshot his ears are detached from his face and therefore no longer discreet as they normally are. In his back photograph after the procedure, we can see that there is no indication that surgery has been performed. Finally, in the side picture we can see a better definition of the ear. The goal is to restore the naturalness of the face without drawing attention to anything. In this way we do not focus on a single point but we appreciate all the beauty of the person.

Sometimes it is not known that this solution exists and those affected have to put up with this peculiar characteristic conferred by their ears. In the following pictures we observe a handsome 27 year old man who decided for himself to have this procedure done in his adulthood after being bullied during his school years. Despite the misfortune he is extremely happy to have had the procedure done.

Ear pinning or otoplasty (technical name) is a very thorough surgery whose risks are low (there may be scarring problems or irregularities in the ears). It is an outpatient procedure, that is, you go home the same day. It is performed under deep sedation controlled by an anesthesiologist and takes approximately 2 hours. Recovery is relatively quick, usually requiring a week of absence from daily activities. Pain is generally low. The scar is imperceptible since it is located in an inconspicuous place.

The price range starts at 2850 USD (it includes consultations before and after the procedure, the use of the operating room and consumables during the procedure, surgical and anesthetic team fees, as well as medications during recovery) and will be defined by the treatment plan suggested by your plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon. As we all know, not all dresses fit all bodies. At Kintsugi we do not look for generic results: we think like artists, plan like architects and execute like engineers. Just like with a dress, the result of your treatment is what people will see when they meet you. It's an investment in you.

We may not extend your life but we sure will improve your walk in this life!
