Nose surgery is considered the most complex surgery —even more so than brain or heart surgery. Why is that?
Mainly due to two factors, firstly that the nose is located in the center of the face, making it very conspicuous in daily life.
Second, the nose must be discreet and in harmony with the rest of the face.
These two opposing principles of being discreet yet at the center of attention make nose surgery a highly complex procedure.
Scientific studies have shown that when two people have a conversation, or when we are attracted to someone, our attention focuses first and foremost on the eyes and mouth. Perhaps this explains why lip and eye design are so fashionable . Science supports what common sense tells us when we observe cartoons or animated drawings, where the emphasis is placed on the eyes and mouth.
The fact that the nose is a small structure in the center of the face means that tiny changes on the order of millimeters can cause very large shifts in the perception of the nose. This becomes a double-edged sword, as very subtle changes can bring great satisfaction but can also be disastrous for the patient. It requires both great skill and an artistic eye on the part of the surgeon, as well as maturity on the part of the patient to understand these limitations and seek a believable result.

Nose design is a surgery that must be custom-made since there is no mold that fits every face.
The most common reason for nose reshaping is a nose that is out of proportion to the rest of the face. This may be due to a hump on the back of the nose, a nose that has grown too far forward or to the sides, or a lack of definition in the tip of the nose. It can be performed in women, generally starting at age 15, and in men starting at age 18.

Rhinoplasty (the technical term for nose surgery) is a procedure that takes about 4 to 5 hours and is performed under deep sedation by an anesthesiologist. It is an outpatient procedure, meaning you return home the same day.
Severe risks are rare (less than 2%) and can cause partial or complete loss of the nose, impaired respiratory function, loss of smell, or a change in voice.
Returning to daily activities is relatively quick, although recovery is a bit uncomfortable for the first few days. Sleeping is uncomfortable, as it makes it difficult to breathe through the nose due to a blocked nose. It's also uncomfortable because the face can't be washed for the first few days, and hair washing is required, similar to those done in a salon. Returning to daily activities is gradual, starting in the first week. Healing is generally imperceptible.
